Taylor Swift's Italian Origins

Today, we would like to share with you a fascinating story that connects our beloved region of Cilento to one of the world's biggest pop music stars: Taylor Swift.

Yes, you read that correctly. Taylor Swift, the multi-award-winning singer-songwriter beloved around the globe, has Italian roots right here in Cilento. Taylor's family comes from Castelnuovo Cilento, just a few kilometers from Palinuro, a small village not far from Villamirella.

This surprising discovery emerged from the book "Philadelphia’s King of Little Italy," written by Charles Douglas, a Supreme Court Judge from New Hampshire. According to the book, Taylor Swift’s Cilentan ancestor is Rosa Galzerano in Baldi, whose son Carmine moved to America in the late nineteenth century and made his fortune in Philadelphia. Among Carmine Baldi’s seven children was Rosa Baldi, named in honor of her grandmother. Rosa later married Lieutenant Colonel Archie Dean Swift, with whom she had three children: Archie III, Douglas, and Scott Swift. The latter, Scott Swift, is the father of Taylor Swift.

After discovering her Italian origins, Taylor Swift expressed a desire to visit the Cilentan village where her ancestor was born. Who knows, maybe one day we will have the honor of welcoming Taylor Swift here, in the heart of Cilento!
